Needles & Bobbins: 26 February

Could it possibly be another Needles & Bobbins post?! Why yes, it is!! My life is yet to settle into any kind of routine, although it is slowly getting closer and closer. A lot has happened in my life in the last month, I have moved house, returned to university and even managed to get a little travel in!

I have moved in with my brother and his family and I have been so lucky to have the support of my family and friends. My two little nephews are always happy to see me and brightens my day. I have also been incredibly lucky to have support from all of you and I would like to thank you all once again for your messages of support and encouragement.

My first uni lecture in over 2 years!

I have returned to study at the University of Canberra where I am almost half way through my degree in Human Nutrition. I began my degree back in 2010 and stopped a couple of years ago as it became too much for me to have a family, work and study – plus I had also just started designing! Now that one of those elements is out of the picture, I am hoping that I can use this time to finish my degree. You may notice various pictures of me online where it is apparent that I have put on a bit of weight while I was in my relationship. I am hoping to go back to my healthier lifestyle and I have decided to restart my old Nutritionally Yours blog. If you are interested in reading about my weight loss and university journeys, you can check out my page here.

And yes, I have managed to get a little bit of travel in! As I write this post, I am sitting on the train returning from Sydney (written Tuesday, posted today). I went to Sydney to attend the Australia & New Zealand Jamberry Launch Tour. It was wonderful to get away for the night and the surprise spa bath in my room did wonders for a little pampering! It was great to see people from Home Office (in the US) speak in person and we even got to go home with some free and exclusive wraps!!

Not only that, but I got to spend 4 hours each way on a relaxing train ride where I got to spend most of the time knitting. On the way up, I even met a lovely lady from the Central Coast and we spent most of the time chatting away about crafts and Jamberry – two of my favourite topics!!

I am currently working on my first commission item in years (as you probably already know, I don’t knit for others lol). I am working on Molly's Amazing Technicolor Housecoat for a friend of mine. The reasons I am making it for her are simple…

  • I have always wanted to make it… but never wanted to wear it

  • She understands the cost of a handmade item

  • I know she will care for it

  • It is for an awesome costume

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram (or both!) You are probably sick of seeing this project! I spammed you all with pictures and updates… what can I say… I was sitting on a train for 4 hours haha!

This is the only project I am currently working on, but I did finish the cross stitch galah for my Nan… I still need to frame it and wrap it for her though. Here it is, all finished!

I originally wrote about the cross stitch in an unpublished N&B post from when I was returning from Bendigo… I have published it now as well… it just needed pictures and they were just a little lower on my priority list at the time. But you can see it here

Hopefully now that I am all caught up, I can try to get back into a bit more of a regular routine and you will hear from me more often.
