I still remember sitting at my mother's knee watching her knitting cabled sweaters. At 6, I can't imagine how my mother had the patience to teach me to knit; to say I was loud and hyperactive would be an understatement.

Since then, I have continued to knit, growing my skills through Ravelry, but also through the wonderful men and women I have met through the local knitting groups.
I currently live in Queanbeyan, Australia and design while studying Human Nutrition at the University of Canberra and working part-time at a local retail store. I am also an independent consultant with Jamberry, and my nails have become my latest obsession.
My life, and house, is filled with yarn and fibre, and so many design ideas I barely know where to start. My knitting is always beside my chair and my spinning wheel is not far away either.

In April 2014 I published my first ever design, a free pattern (Maile Beanie) inspired by Nikki Van De Car’s Maile Sweater. This has rekindled my creative spark and I have designed many other patterns since then.
I find inspiration in the world around me, and quite a few of my designs have been inspired by some of my favourite books.

My Design Philosophy
Whirlsie's Designs is committed to reducing the impact on the environment through providing the majority of knitting patterns in digital format, reducing the amount of paper required for printing. Customers are encouraged to reduce printing and paper use where possible, in addition to using recycled products.
